PERSONAL — Born Jerome Anthony Boyd II on May 26, 1986 in Los Angeles. Parents: Jerome Boyd and Ruth Murdock. Family: One sister. High School (Coach): Dorsey (Ralph Caldwell) 2004. Major: Political Science. Redshirt: 2004. Expected to complete graduation requirements by the end of the summer term.

2008 — Team’s most experienced linebacker and second-year starter finished the regular season as Oregon’s fifth-leading tackler (80) despite battling various ailments that led to him receiving the Bob Officer Award as the program’s player who excels despite physical adversity and injury ... Paced the Ducks in tackles with a career-high 13 stops vs. Arizona and 10 at Arizona State (9 unassisted), in addition to forcing one fumble against the Sun Devils and recovering another at Oregon State ... Posted two of his three quarterback sacks vs. UCLA for a loss of 15 yards ... Hard work has contributed to his progress as he completed the transformation to linebacker after beginning his collegiate career in the defensive secondary ... Clocked as Oregon’s fastest linebacker ever over 40 yards in 2006 (4.33) as well as equaled his position’s fourth-best bench press of all time (405 lbs.) ... Recognized as an honorable mention all-conference selection for the second time in as many years ... Development hindered by missing all of spring drills with a toe injury.

2007 — Started all 13 games at the strongside linebacker (SAM) slot and improved as the season wore on ... The team’s fourth-leading tackler also finished tied for second on the team in tackles for loss, in addition to recovering a fumble and intercepting a pass vs. Washington State ... Credited with a career-best 11 tackles at Stanford and eight stops against Houston, when he also forced one fumble in his starting debut ... The Pac-10’s honorable mention all-conference choice was awarded honors as his team’s most improved player (Clarke Trophy) following the regular season.

2006 — Made appearances in nine games as a reserve outside linebacker and on special teams, posting five of his stops on kick coverage units ... Included were two of his season-high three tackles at Arizona State on special teams, as well as his assisted quarterback sack against the Sun Devils ... Took part in 36 snaps at California ... Cited for making a big hit on the kickoff coverage unit at Oregon State as well as giving extraordinary effort on kickoff return squad at Arizona State.

2005 — Posted seven tackles on special teams in 12 appearances, participating in 17 plays vs. Montana and 14 against Oregon State ... Accumulated three of his stops at Stanford and two vs. Washington.

2004 — Cited as defensive scout team player of the week for aiding preparations leading into games vs. Indiana, Washington State and Stanford during redshirt season.

HIGH SCHOOL — The PrepStar All-American was rated among the top 40 prep prospects in California by SuperPrep magazine as well as endorsed as the sixth-best high school safety in the country by Rivals.com ... Garnered first-team all-Coliseum League accolades and votes on the Long Beach Press-Telegram’s Best in the West elite listing after accumulating 115 tackles his senior season ... Earned first-team all-state, all-city and all-area acclaim for the Dons, who claimed the 2003 league championship with a 12-1 ledger.
