
NFL #ProDucks: Week 1

LeGarrette Blount provided the #ProDuck highlight of the week, carrying six defenders for more than five yards on his way to a touchdown. DeForest Buckner and Arik Armstead were very active for head coach Chip Kelly in their first game together as NFL teammates, and Marcus Mariota endured a week of highs-and-lows as he began his second season as an NFL quarterback.
Carolina Panthers
- TE Ed Dickson played in the Panthers' tough 21-20 loss to the Denver Broncos on Thursday Night Football, but did not record any statistics.
- RB Jonathan Stewart carried the ball 15 times for 64 yards against the Broncos, averaging 4.3 yards per carry with a long rush of 11 yards.
- C Hroniss Grasu is on the Reserved/Injured list with a torn ACL and will not play this season.
- OL Kyle Long, newly signed to a contract extension through 2021, started at right guard in the Bears' 23-14 loss to the Houston Texans. The Bears' offensive line, battered by injuries throughout the preseason, struggled against the Texans' pass rush, allowing five sacks as well as eight tackles for loss.

- OL Jake Fisher played but did not get the start in Cincinnati's 23-22 victory over the New York Jets. The Bengals' offensive line allowed seven sacks and nine tackles for loss to the Jets.
- S T.J. Ward started in the Broncos' season-opening 21-20 win against the Carolina Panthers, making five solo tackles and adding a pass defensed from his safety spot. Ward helped the Broncos' defense limit Cam Newton and the Carolina offense to just 176 passing yards.

- OL Darrion Weems didn't start, but played against the Panthers. Weems got nine snaps in the opening game, according to Football Outsiders, and will continue to push Michael Schofield for the starting right guard position.
- DT Haloti Ngata made two tackles, one solo, with a pass defensed in Detroit's 39-35 road win over the Indianapolis Colts. Ngata played 64 percent of the Lions' defensive snaps, and helped hold the Colts' rushing attack to just 82 yards.
- S Eddie Pleasant played and made one solo tackle in the Texans' 23-14 win over the Chicago Bears.
- OLB Tony Washington Jr. was placed on the Reserved/Injured list after being cut by the team last week.
- CB Terrance Mitchell is currently on the Chiefs' practice squad and did not play in their 33-27 win against the San Diego Chargers.
- WR De'Anthony Thomas was inactive and did not play against the Chargers.
- CB Troy Hill played but did not record any statistics in the Rams' 28-0 loss to the San Francisco 49ers on Monday Night Football.
- LB Kiko Alonso was very active in the Dolphins' 12-10 loss at the Seattle Seahawks, recording 11 tackles, three solo, with a quarterback hit and a fumble recovery. According to Pro Football Focus, Alonso was the highest-rated linebacker in the league against the run in the opening week.

- CB Ifo Ekpre-Olomu is on the Reserved/Injured list after suffering an ACL injury in training camp and will not play this season.
- LB Spencer Paysinger made one solo tackle against the Seahawks.
- DE Dion Jordan remains on the Active/Non Football Injury list as he works his way back from a knee injury.
- RB LeGarrette Blount ran for 70 yards and a touchdown on 22 carries as the Patriots went on the road to beat the Arizona Cardinals, 23-21. Blount found the end zone from eight yards out early in the third quarter to extend the New England lead to 17-7, dragging multiple defenders with him over the final five yards. Blount's rushing touchdown was the 32nd of his eight-year career.

- S Patrick Chung made six tackles, three solo, against the Cardinals while starting at strong safety.
- S Jairus Byrd started at free safety and made four tackles, two solo, in the Saints' 35-34 loss to the Oakland Raiders. The Saints' defense struggled to contain an Oakland offense that totalled 486 yards of offense, including 319 yards passing.
- C Max Unger started at center against the Raiders, helping to limit Oakland to just one sack as Drew Brees had plenty of time to throw for 419 yards and four touchdowns.
- RB Kenjon Barner was very effective in his limited action, running for 42 yards on just four carries for an average of 10.5 yards per carry in the Eagles' 29-10 win over the Cleveland Browns. Barner produced runs of 19 and 17 yards while earning 13 total snaps, according to Football Outsiders.
- WR Josh Huff played in 36 percent of the Eagles' offensive snaps against the Browns, but did not record any statistics.
- RB Byron Marshall is currently on the Eagles' practice squad.
- LB Joe Walker is on the Reserved/Injured list after suffering an ACL injury and will not play this season.
- QB Kellen Clemens did not play as the Chargers fell to the Kansas City Chiefs, 33-27.
- OT Tyler Johnstone is on San Diego's Reserved/Injured list with an undisclosed injury.
- DL Arik Armstead, after missing the entire preseason with a shoulder injury, played and recorded his third career sack in the 49ers' 28-0 win against the Los Angeles Rams. Armstead dropped quarterback Case Keenum for a four-yard losson 3rd-and-15 to force a Los Angeles punt late in the first half. Armstead was in on 56 percent of the 49ers' defensive snaps, according to Football Outsiders.
- OL Alex Balducci is currently 49ers' practice squad.
- DL DeForest Buckner started and was the 49ers' most-used defensive lineman agains the Rams, playing on 82 percent of the team's defensive snaps (51 total). Buckner shows up in the box score with three tackles, one solo, but his impact extended beyond that as he occupied multiple defenders and hurried Keenum on multiple occasions.

- DT Taylor Hart was inactive and did not play against the Rams.
- FB Will Tukuafu was resigned and added to the 53-man roster by Seattle following the team's 12-10 win over the Miami Dolphins.
- TE Brandon Williams played against the Dolphins and assisted on one special teams tackle.
- QB Marcus Mariota had an up-and-down day in the Titans' season-opening 25-16 loss to the Minnesota Vikings, completing 25-of-41 passes for 271 yards with two touchdowns and an interception while rushing for 19 yards on four carries and losing a fumble. Mariota and the Titans opened up a 10-0 lead late in the first half on a six-yard touchdown pass to DeMarco Murray, completing 7-of-10 passes on that drive. With the Titans leading 10-6 in the third, Mariota was intercepted by Eric Kendricks, who returned the ball 77 yards for a touchdown to put the Vikings up for good. Mariota was stripped of the ball early in the fourth quarter, and Danielle Hunter returned the ball 24 yards for a touchdown to extend the Minnesota lead. The Titans' quarterback found Murray again late in the game for a four-yard score, but it was too little too late as the Vikings took a knee to secure the win. Mariota will look to be more efficient and limit turnovers when the Titans travel to Detroit on Sunday for their Week 2 matchup with the Lions.

BC Lions
- RB Jeremiah Johnson is currently in his third CFL season and first as a Lion. Johnson ran for 448 yards and nine touchdowns last season with Ottawa, and has totaled 468 yards on 76 carries with six touchdowns in six games this season. Johnson had a monster performance in the Lions' most recent game against Montreal, running for 159 yards and three touchdowns on 16 carries, averaging 9.9 yards per rush.

- LB Bo Lokombo is in his third CFL season with the Lions and has made nine defensive tackles in 11 games this season.
- QB Jeremiah Masoli is enjoying a strong year in his fourth season with Hamilton. Masoli has completed 162-of-231 passes this season for a completion percentage of 70.1 while tossing nine touchdowns. Masoli has been utilized in special situations since the return of starting quarterback Zach Collaros on August 28, rushing for touchdowns in each of the Ticats' past two games.
- QB Vernon Adams Jr. is in his first season with the Alouettes after leading college football in passer efficiency with the Ducks in 2015. Adams Jr. has played in eight games this season, throwing for 35 yards on four completions and adding 26 rushing yards and a touchdown on 11 carries. Adams' first career touchdown came on August 26 against Winnipeg.
- DB John Boyett is in his second season with the Redblacks and has made 32 total tackles with an interception in 10 games this season. Boyett picked up his first interception of the year in the Redblacks' most recent game on September 1 against Montreal , while also adding four tackles.
