Ducks drop series finale at Oregon State

CORVALLIS, Ore. – Oregon State scored the first nine runs of the game while finishing with three home runs as Oregon fell 12-5 in the Pac-12 Conference series finale Saturday at Goss Stadium.
How it Happened: After Oregon starter Kolby Somers (1-6) retired the first two batters of the game, the Beavers racked up four consecutive base hits, including a three-run home run by Trevor Larnach to make it 3-0.
The Beavers (29-6, 10-5 Pac-12) broke things wide open in the third inning, scoring six two-out runs to make it 9-0. Michael Gretler and Adley Rutschman provided the big hits in the inning, with Gretler hitting an opposite field two-run home run and Rutschman a three-run double.
Oregon (19-18, 6-12 Pac-12) scratched a run across in the top of the fourth, cutting it to 9-1. Ray Soderman drove in Gabe Matthews from third on a groundout to shortstop.
After the Beavers added two more runs in the fifth inning, the Ducks answered with three in the top of the sixth to make it 11-5. Spencer Steer drew a bases loaded walk and Gabe Matthews delivered a two-run single to chip away at the lead.
Duck Notes: Kasser drew his 69th career walk to move into eight place in school history, one ahead of Daniel Patzlaff … Jakob Goldfarb doubled twice in a game for the second time this season, the other came against UC Davis on March 10 … He is now tied for the team lead in multiple-hit games with 13 ... DeLuca recorded his 10th multi-hit game of the season while Matthews recorded his ninth.
On Deck: The Ducks play at Portland in a non-conference game that was rescheduled from February 21.
