
Ducks Eighth After Day One of Pac-12 Championships

ROLLING HILLS ESTATES, Calif. – Oregon sits in eight place at 1-over par after the first two rounds of the Pac-12 Championships Monday at Rolling Hills Country Club. Ryan Gronlund led the way, shooting 3 under through 36 holes and is tied for 14th individually.
How it Happened Round One: Gronlund shot a 1-under 34 on the front nine after making two birdies and a bogey. He double-bogeyed the par-5 10th hole to drop back to 1 over but got one of the shots back with a birdie on hole 17 to finish even par in round one.
Kevin Geniza, Norman Xiong and Edwin Yi all joined Gronlund with an even-par 71. Geniza recovered from two early bogeys and shot a 1-under 35 on the back nine while Yi went 2 under on the inward half after shooting 2 over going out. Xiong shot even par on both nines, making three birdies, a bogey and double bogey.
Donald Kay finished with a 3-over 74 to be the Ducks' fifth scorer while Thomas Mulligan shot a 9-over 80.
Round Two: Gronlund opened with a par before an eagle on the par-4 second hole got him to 2 under for the tournament. He ended the front nine at 2 under before shooting a 1-under 35 on the second nine to come in with a 3-under 68.
After a 1-over 36 on the opening nine, Xiong started to get hot after making the turn. He birdied holes 10 and 11 before a birdie at the par-4 14th hole put him at 2 under for the round. Xiong shot a 2-under 69 and is in tied for 19th.
Geniza got off to a rough start, making three bogeys and no birdies to go out with a 3-over 38. He bounced back on the second nine with four birdies to just one bogey to finish at even par for the round and tied for 30th.
Yi shot a 3-over 74 and is tied for 48th while Kay shot 1 over and is tied for 55th and Mulligan went 2 over to sit in 71st.
