Ducks Lose Two on Final Day of Pac-12 North

STANFORD, Calif. – The Oregon beach volleyball team closed out its weekend at the Pac-12 North with a pair of losses Saturday, dropping matches to Utah and No. 10 Stanford.
 
Up Next: The final road trip of the regular season will take Oregon to the Husky Invitational (April 15-16) in Seattle to play Boise State, Portland and host Washington. The Ducks will then return home for Senior Day on Thursday, April 20, against Portland.
 
Utah 4, Oregon 1
 
In just their second weekend as a team, Valerie Peterson and Batia Rotshtein opened the scoring with a 21-18, 21-15 win over Sydney Jacinto and Kylie Pitzak at the No. 4 spot in the lineup. Overall, it was their third win together and gave Oregon the early 1-0 lead.
 
However, the Utes picked up wins in the remaining four matches to secure the dual. The lone three-set match came at the top spot where Ella Tyus and Bea Wetton jumped out to a one-set advantage before Katie McAlister and Amaya Messier rallied for a 17-21, 21-19, 15-11 result in the final match of the dual.

The host Cardinal won both matches—No. 2 and 4 pairs—during the first wave Saturday afternoon and then clinched the dual with back-to-back wins within seconds of each other on courts three and five. In the clinching match, Presley McCaskill and Abby Plevin hung tough in the opening set before the team of Phoenix Clarke and Taylor Wilson pulled through with the 21-17, 21-12 result. Stanford got the sweep at No. 1 pairs to close out the Ducks' weekend.
 
Oregon falls to 7-19 this season with Saturday's results.
