Football Practice Recap: Sept. 5
09/05/23 | Football, @GoDucksMoseley
The Ducks are preparing to play at Texas Tech on Saturday (4 p.m., FOX).
The Oregon Ducks were in full pads for practice Tuesday as the program prepares to play at Texas Tech on Saturday (4 p.m., FOX).
Also Tuesday, the Associated Press Top 25 poll was updated following the first full week of results around college football. Oregon moved up two spots to No. 13, after beating Portland State last week, 81-7. Texas Tech received one vote in the wake of its loss at Wyoming.
After practice, running backs Bucky Irving and Jordan James and defensive back Dontae Manning and Nikko Reed met with members of local media. Video of those interviews is embedded below.
Some highlights from Irving and Manning …
Irving on opening the season last week: "It felt good just to get back going, going with the guys in a real live game, seeing how we could execute the plays we've been working on for a long time in fall camp. And just going out and executing."
Irving on seeing so many backs have success: "In our room, we're one. If one has success, we all have success. We've got a lot of not-selfish guys in our room. We're all connected, we hang out outside of the field. We're one group."
Manning on starting at cornerback in the opener: "It was pretty big to me. Just trying to pick up where I left off during the bowl game. Not having any type of drop-off, every week elevating my game."
Manning on facing former UO defensive coordinator Tim DeRuyter, now at Texas Tech: "As far as what they run, it's real complex. Everybody switches it up every now and again. So I'm just looking forward to it."
