Brian Crouser

The youngest of a family of throwers, track and field standout Brian Crouser excelled at Oregon from 1982-96. The first boy ever to win the javelin, shot put, and discus state championships in one year (Gresham High, 1981), Crouser topped that in 1982, when he became the first college freshman to win the NCAA javelin title. His mark of 274'7" earned him a top-three national ranking for the first of four times in his career.
Though injuries hampered his sophomore and junior seasons, he still managed to win the Pac-10 javelin crown his junior year with a toss of 272'7" and again his senior year, with a mark of 283'8". In 1986, he earned his second NCAA title, and in the first year of the new javelin implement, he became the world-record holder with a throw of 262'0". He went on to participate in the 1988 and `92 Olympic Games, finishing both contests in the world’s top 30.
