One of the Ducks' top female distance runners of all time, the North Salem High School graduate and former Oregon state prep champion captured the NCAA 1,500-meter title and finishing second in the 800 in 1984 before reversing the order of events her senior year to lead the women to their lone NCAA track title in 1985 in Austin, Texas. Still claiming the school=s fastest 800 time ever (1:58.33), Groenendaal earned her squad's performer-of-the-year award her final collegiate campaign before claiming the TAC championships in the 800 in 1985 and '86.
