Epitomized the term "student-athlete" by claiming the women=s NCAA 10,000-meter championship in 1984 while earning first-team academic All-America honors on three occasions (1983-84-85). The seven-time All-American still holds the Ducks' school records in the 3,000 (8:50.79), 5,000 (15:23.03) and 10,000 (32:43.81) in addition to the fastest collegiate 5,000-meter mark ever.
