Leann Warren
- Induction:
- 1995
- Class:
- 1983
So slight, she looked as if a strong wind could blow her away. Instead, she blew away many a strong opponent in four record-filled years. Warren took titles in both the 800 and 1,500 meters at the 1981 national meet and successfully defended her 1,500 title one year later in the first-ever NCAA championships for women.
So versatile, she also earned a second-place showing at the 1981 cross country championships and ran on the best collegiate mile relay unit in 1980. The holder of 10 All-American certificates, Warren was admired and respected by her peers and supporters. She earned the Higdon Trophy, given to the sophomore for excellence in athletics, scholarship and citizenship and capped her career with the Jackson Award, presented to Oregon’s top senior female athlete.
