Neal Steinhauer
- Induction:
- 1995
To be voted outstanding track and field performer once by your teammates is an enormous honor. He was selected three times. He won the coveted Emerald Athletic Trophy as the most outstanding in combining athletics, scholarship and citizenship. And he could toss the shot and discus a long, long way.
In 1967, he set an indoor world record in the shot put. He won three consecutive Pacific-8 Conference shot put titles and led Oregon to the 1965 NCAA championship with the individual shot title as a sophomore. A three-time all-American, he gained national runner-up honors twice and helped the Ducks win two conference titles.
