Peter Jacobsen
- Induction:
- 1993
He was the difference in numerous meets for Oregon’s golf program in the mid-1970s and he has not stopped in attempting to make a difference in society as well. He won Pacific-8 Conference individual championships in two of three seasons and etched his name on three straight all-America plaques, including a member of the U.S. World Collegiate all-star team in 1975 and culminating with the 1976 season in which the Ducks finished among the top 10 teams nationally.
The 1974 individual title was the most impressive, beating all the players from the league’s southern schools as well. “There’s been a lot of great golfers in Oregon history . . . Jacobsen is possibly the best of all of them,” said the Register-Guard. The native of Portland also has enhanced his reputation as a professional player with more than $3 million in earnings and working to bring the world’s elite of the game to the state for the enjoyment of golf fans in Oregon and the benefit of local charities.
