
Women's Basketball Drops Pac-10 Home-Opener to USC, 69-55

EUGENE, Ore. ? The University of Oregon women's basketball team lost 69-55 Friday against USC before 3,772 fans at McArthur Court.
Senior forward Ebony Hoffman led the Women of Troy (5-5, 2-0) with 25 points and 10 rebounds. USC, which snapped a three-game losing streak to Oregon (8-5, 0-3), raced to a 21-6 lead in the game's first nine minutes.
In the second half, the Ducks were down by as many as 24 at 62-38 before Oregon went on a 14-2 run to cut the lead to 12. But a lay-in and 3-pointer by USC's Rometra Craig sealed the deal. Craig finished with 15 points on 7-of-11 shooting.
It's Oregon's worst start of the conference season since it went 0-4 in 1995-96.
Andrea Bills notched her ninth double-figure scoring game of the year for Oregon with 11 points, although she had just one point in the first half. Brandi Davis added 10 points in 12 minutes off the bench. Oregon point guard Corrie Mizusawa added eight points, six assists and no turnovers.
The Ducks, who lost their fourth in a row, committed a season-high 24 turnovers and were outrebounded (33-23) for the third straight game.
Oregon hit 58 percent from the field in the second half, but USC was even better at 60 percent.
Oregon next plays host to UCLA (5-6, 0-2), which lost 82-68 to Oregon State. Tipoff for the Bruins-Ducks game is Sunday at 2 p.m. at McArthur Court.
