DAVIDSON, N.C. ? Looking for its first road win of the season, the Oregon women's lacrosse team scored 12 unanswered goals to begin the game Saturday as the Ducks eventually demolished Davidson 16-6.
Freshman midfielder Jen May scored a team-high five goals and passed out two assists to lead an offense that scored the most goals on the road since having 12 at Denver Feb. 25. May scored four of her five goals in the game's first 13 minutes as she sparked the Ducks to a 13-2 halftime lead. Nine Ducks scored in the game.
"The team came out sharp and really just were energized to take on a team," Oregon coach Jen Larsen said. "We had a solid effort from everybody. To have nine different Ducks score is to show our offense not highlighting individuals but the whole unit. As a team, it's the best effort we've put out so far."
Oregon ended a three-game losing streak and improved to 3-9. Davidson fell to 4-6.
Erin Gaebe added three goals and three assists, Kate Fleming scored twice and Theresa Waldron had one goal and three assists for the Ducks.
Two players scored for Davidson ? Lindsay Frank with five goals and Brandson Jacob with one.
Louisa Dorsch and Allison O'Brien shared goalkeeping duties for the Ducks. Dorsch played the first half and allowed just two goals and recorded five saves. O'Brien, a freshman, gave up only four goals and notched a career-high eight saves. Oregon allowed its fewest goals of the season (six), which it also did in a home win over Saint Mary's.
Oregon has two weeks off of competition before it heads to California to play Saint Mary's April 16.
