
Freshmen Lead Ducks Over CU

Claudia Hirt's winner in the third set pushed
“This was a tournament type of win, for us,” head coach Nils Schyllander said. “We knew they were going to be tough, they played very well and I was pleased our freshmen stepped up and won it for us when we were down 3-2.”
The Ducks got the match started the right way by sweeping through the doubles point. Dominika Dieskova and Ceci Olivos, currently ranked No. 49 in the country, had the toughest match at the number one position winning 8-5 against Jessica Vanderdys and Monica Milewski.
Anna Leksinska and Hirt also rolled through their match defeating the CU team of Gleisy Torres Torres and Ewa Losinki, 8-2. Wrapping up the doubles wins Seremeta and Anna Powaska won their match against Veerra Nurmi and Franziska Jendrian, 8-4.
The Ducks split the first two singles matches that finished. Dieskova won at number one by a 6-3, 6-3 score over Milewski. Anna Leksinska was on the wrong end of a 6-3, 6-3 defeat as she fell to Jendrian.
Olivos was next to finish as she fell in a tough, well-played straight sets loss, 6-4, 6-1 to Nurmi.
Anna Powaska fell in a tough three-set loss to Vanderdys losing 1-6, 6-2, 2-6. The match was then 3-2 in favor of the visitors.
Seremeta fought through a solid match with Losinski, winning 7-5, 7-5. Hirt was down a set to Torres Torres, having dropped the first, 7-5, when she won the second set, 6-3. In a close, highly contested third set Hirt was able to come out on top 6-3.
