11/28/11 | Women's Basketball
Oregon Head Coach Paul Westhead
Opening comments...
"I did not even notice that Nia (Jackson) did not score. She is a classic point guard, trucking away; she's just playing the game. Defending and making points when possible. She really helped us; I didn't even realize she did not score. Ariel Thomas really helps; she is a hard playing kid. If there were 12 Ariels on a team they would be great. Amanda Johnson was very good today. We also got good play from Jasmin Holliday and her back up Lexi Peterson."
On the tournament...
"In defensive wrinkle. We also put in a new play for Jasmin Holliday today and it turned out well. It is good to win it all in our tournament. Any time we have to play back-to-back games, a running team is better because we practice that way."
On Nicholls State...
"Our defense did great stepping up to KK Babin."
On adjusting for the second half...
"We did a couple of things; we got out of the zone so that they couldn't score on us. Our pace wears people down and I think that they got tired. We did better covering. We practice not getting tired."

On three games in four nights...
"We are all a little banged up, but being out there we tapped into the reservoir of conditioning we built up in the preseason. It was one of our best running games this season."
On having Ariel Thomas and Deanna Weaver back...
"We benefited from their speed, but also their ability to bring points, rebounds and steals."

"Coach (Westhead) has a substitution method. We know to go hard because you know someone is going in for you."
On having Ariel Thomas and Deanna Weaver back...
"They are two really athletic girls. It helps a lot in our favor. We are thankful to have them back."
