No. 18 Golfers Tied for 12th in Northrop Grumman Challenge Opener

Palos Verdes, Calif.- The University of Oregon women's golf team kicked off its spring schedule Monday at the Northrop Grumman Regional, in 12th place at the Palos Verdes Golf Club.
The No. 18 Ducks shot 20-over 304 in the first round at the 5.912-yard, par 71 course competing against 10 top-25 ranked teams. No. 1 UCLA leads at even-par 284, and owns an eight-stroke lead over No. 18 Duke (second, 292). No. 39 Denver sits in third place at 11-over 295.
Freshman Cali Hipp led UO for the second time this season, finishing in a tie for 18th after the first round at 2-over 73. Finishing three shots behind Hipp, fellow freshman Cassy Isagawa finished the day at 5-over 76, ending in a tie for 35th. Senior Ashley Edwards tied for 48th place in the 80-player field, at 6-over 77.
Two other Ducks competed Monday, sophomore Raphaela Dyer (54th-t, 78) and junior Cheyenne Hickle (71st-t, 82).
On the individual leaderboard, Denver's Rachael Watton sits alone on top at 4-under 67 and Lindy Duncan of Duke finished at 2-under 69. Four other competitors were tied for third place at 1-under 70.
