Ducks up three spots after second day of play at Northrop Grumman Regional

PALOS VERDES, Calif. - The No. 18 University of Oregon women's golf team moved up three spots into ninth place in second-round action of the Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge, hosted by the Palos Verdes Golf Club.
The Ducks (304-300-604) trail top-ranked UCLA (284-286-570) by 34 strokes heading into Wednesday's final round at the par 71, 5,912 yard course. No. 4 USC (297-291-588) is 18 shots behind the Bruins, followed by No. 34 Pepperdine in third (300-292-592).
Freshman Cassy Isagawa (76-70-146) jumped 23 spots into a tie for 12th place after finishing at 1-under 70. Her scorecard proved impressive with birdies on holes #4 and #12, par scores on 15 holes (#1-3,5-8,10-14,16-18) and only hit one bogey (#9). The Wailuku, Hawaii native now has six under-par rounds and has led UO in 10 rounds.
Fellow freshman Cali Hipp (73-74-147) finished at 3-over 74, moving ahead four spots from the first round into a tie for 14th place.
“It was great to have the freshman step up today, “ Oregon head coach Ria Scott said. “As always, Cali played really smart and adjusted very well to the greens. Cassy hit some quality shots out there and put herself in position to score. I know the team will make some adjustments for tomorrow and will not make the same mistakes again. We are seven shots out of fifth place, and we know we still have an opportunity for a solid finish.”
The Ducks also counted scores from senior Ashley Edwards (48th-tie, 77-77-154) and sophomore Raphaela Dyer (60th-tie, 78-79-159), while junior Cheyenne Hickle (78th-tie, 82-89-171), rounded out the Duck unit.
Other Duck birdie/par count from Tuesday follows: Hipp (4/9), Edwards (0/13), Dyer (3/9), and Hickle (2/4).
On the individual leaderboard, Duke's Lindy Duncan moved into first place (69-71-140), Erynne Lee of UCLA (72-69-141) moved up nine spots into second place and Tiffany Lua (71-71-142) of UCLA jumped into third.
