Ducks Finish Day Two at Washington Invitational

SEATTLE, Wash. – The Oregon women's tennis team recorded wins in two of its three doubles matches at the Washington Invitational Saturday.
How It Happened: With competition opening in doubles, the Oregon duos of Shweta Sangwan and Kennan Johnson, as well as Daniela Nasser and Marlou Kluiving earned victories on Saturday morning.
Sangwan and Johnson knocked off Pepperdine's Laura Gulbe and Dzina Milovanovic, 6-2, in the pair's first action together. Nasser and Kluiving bounced back from a couple of 6-4 losses on Friday by handling Pepperdine's Apichaya Runglerdkriangkrai and Danielle Feneridis, 6-1.
Oregon's Paloma Gomez and Micheline Aubuchon nearly grabbed the Ducks' third doubles win of the day. Gomez and Aubuchon took the mixed-team duo made up of Washington's Grace Ysidora and Kentucky's Kate Lanier to a tiebreaker, but fell, 7-3, in the tiebreaker to give up the match.
The Ducks had a tough day in singles competition, going winless on the day.
In singles, Sangwan took the first set of her match with 78th-ranked Aldila Sutjiadi of Kentucky, 6-2, but Sutjiadi stormed back to take the next two and the match, 2-6, 6-3, 6-2.
After dropping her first set, 6-2, to Kentucky's Akvile Parazinskaite, Nasser showed resilience in bouncing back to take the second frame, 6-4. Parazinskaite was too much for the Duck freshman in the third, however, taking the match, 6-2, 4-6, 6-2

What It Means: The Ducks seemed to be able to find a solution for the struggles in doubles they showed on the first day of action at the Washington Invitational, winning two of three matches on Saturday with the one loss coming in a tight match that was decided by a tiebreaker. After a tough day in singles play, Oregon will look to tie it all together and finish strong on Sunday.
