
Ducks, Clark Lead Field After First Day of Arizona Intercollegiate

TUCSON, Ariz. – After the first day of play, the No. 20 Oregon men's golf team leads the 17-team Arizona Intercollegiate field at the Sewailo Golf Club. Senior Wyndham Clark, ranked as the No. 1 collegiate golfer in the country, paced the Ducks with a 1-under 70 in the first round and is currently first on the leader board.
Due to darkness, the conclusion of the second round will begin at 8:45 a.m. PT tomorrow morning. Pairings will remain the same carrying into the third round.
Oregon fired a 293 in the first round and is 16-over through the 14th hole of the second round. Along with the Ducks, fellow Pac-12 teams, California (300, +20) and Washington (299, +21), make up the tournament's current top three.

As an individual, redshirt senior Nigel Lett played at the Arizona Medalist Intercollegiate tournament and finished tied for eighth (76-72-75—223, +10). The Starr Pass Golf Club hosted 30 individuals on the 6,707-yard, 71-par course on Sunday and Monday.
How It Happened: From the beginning of play, the Ducks emerged as the front runners on the 7,262-yard, 71-par course. Through the first nine holes, Oregon was one-over par, followed by No. 46 Iowa State (+2). Pepperdine, Washington, Arizona, No. 44 BYU and California followed suit with scores of four-over, all tying for third.
Through the first round, the Ducks shot a 13-over 293. Clark climbed to the top of the pack with a score of 70 (-1). He contributed six birdies to Oregon's total of 18 on the day. Freshman Norman Xiong was tied for sixth with a score of 72 in his first round of collegiate golf.
With the conclusion of play for the day due the darkness, the Ducks finished with three golfers in the top-20.
In his first round, sophomore Edwin Yi shot a 5-over 75 and is currently tied for 11th with Robert Geibel (Pepperdine), Rhett Rasmussen (BYU), Carl Yuan (Washington) and Sean Carlon (New Mexico).
Xiong is tied for 16th after a first round of 72 and is 6-over through hole 14 of the second round.
Sophomore Sam Foust stands tied at 33rd with Charles Neel White (Louisiana Tech), Charles Corner (Texas El Paso), David Laskin (Arizona), David Ganz (Gonzaga), Sean Yu (California) and Sam Kim (New Mexico) at 9-over par. He tallied six birdies after day one.
Redshirt sophomore Ryan Gronlund rounds out the Oregon lineup and carded a 76 in the first round and ended the day 16-over.
