The Oregon Club of Northern California funded purchase of GPS technology to help Oregon soccer and lacrosse in their training.
The cutting-edge GPS technology that has been available to Oregon's football team to measure and enhance practice performance is now being used by the women's soccer and lacrosse teams, thanks to a donation from the Oregon Club of Northern California.
The 200-member organization raised $10,000 to fund the equipment purchase during its signature event — Ducks in Tahoe — this past summer.
"We are delighted to be supporting women's athletics and providing them tools to maximize their on-the-field performance," said Lynn Murphy, president of the OCNC.
A check was presented to Oregon director of athletics Rob Mullens during an OCNC-sponsored brunch in Palo Alto on Feb. 3, prior to the men's basketball game at Stanford.
"Oregon has a tremendous fan base in Northern California, and this fund-raising effort is just one more example of its strong involvement in contributing to our sports programs," Mullens said.
