Ducks Finish Runner-Up at the Molly Collegiate Invite

PORTLAND, Ore. – Oregon finished runner-up in its second straight tournament to start the season, this time at the Molly Collegiate Invitational after shooting 12 over in Tuesday's final round at Waverley Country Club.

Three Ducks turned in top-15 finishes, led by freshman Briana Chacon's tied for fifth finish in her second collegiate tournament. Fellow freshman Sofie Kibsgaard Nielsen came in tied for 13th while Amy Matsuoka finished 12th.

How it Happened: Chacon started her day with six straight pars before stumbling with a double bogey at seven. She bounced right back with a birdie at the par-5 eighth to make the turn at 1 over, before making a birdie and bogey on the back nine to shoot even coming in.

Nielsen turned in a solid opening nine, making four birdies along with a pair of bogeys to shoot 2 under on the front. The freshman cooled off a bit on the back nine, shooting 3 over with a bogey and double bogey to end the tournament tied for 13th at 8 over after a final round 1-over 73.

Matsuoka also delivered a top-15 finish, coming in 12th at 7 over after a 3-over 75 in the final round. Tze-Han Lin finished tied for 20th and Ching-Tzu Chen came in tied for 22nd.

Alexis Phadungmartvorakul recorded the low round of the day for the Ducks shooting an even-par 72 playing as an individual to finish the event tied for 16th.

Stanford won the team title at 4 under while the Cardinal's Andrea Lee took home medalist honors at 6 under.
