How It Happened: Oregon (2-2) made quick work of Saint Mary's to begin the afternoon, clinching the doubles point after winning the first two matches.
Shweta Sangwan and Rifanty Kahfiani were the first to finish for the Ducks, recording an explosive 6-1 win at the number one spot. Daniela Nasser and Paiton Wagner were next, taking down their opponents 6-4 and giving Oregon its first point of the day.
Despite holding onto a 5-4 lead, Allison Mulville and Taryn Fujimori's match went unfinished when the doubles point was awarded to Oregon.
Saint Mary's (0-3) came out strong in singles play, opening with a win at the number six spot, to tie things up, 1-1. But the Ducks found their rhythm and would win the next four matches.
Mulville won in straight sets, 6-1, 6-3, against Liesel Pieters, recording her third-straight win and maintaining a perfect record.
Kahfiani finished next for the Ducks, winning a battle at the number three spot, 7-6(1), 6-4.
On the court next to Kahfiani, Sangwan was mounting a comeback to clinch the match for the Ducks. After dropping the first set, Sangwan elevated her game, winning the next two sets in a 2-6, 6-2, 6-2 clinching win for the Ducks.
"I was like, I just can't go down like that, I have to fight," said Sangwan. "So that was my mentality … Once I walk out of here I needed to be confident that I fought hard, and I fought back."
After receiving their sought after fourth point, the Ducks recorded another win from Wagner at position No. 4 who defeated her opponent in a three-set thriller, 3-6, 7-5, 6-3.
Notable: With her victory tonight, Shweta Sangwan recorded her 59th career win, moving her into a tie for ninth with Lindsay Bartlett (1981-84) on UO's all-time career wins list … For the first time this spring season, Daniela Nasser paired with Paiton Wagner in doubles. It is also the first time that Allison Mulville and Taryn Fujimori were paired together.
