02/19/19 | Women's Golf
LAS VEGAS - Head coach Derek Radley and the Oregon women's golf team opened up the 2019 spring season with a fourth-place showing at the Rebel Beach Invitational at Spanish Trail Country Club.
No. 39 ranked Oregon wrapped up the three-round, two-day tournament at 31-over par (301-300-294 = 895). Arizona won with a 14-over 878.
The Ducks were led individually by junior Amy Matsuoka, who tied for third place with a 3-over 219 (74-71-74). The third place showing is Matsuoka's highest career finish and her second career top-10 finish after taking eighth at the East and West as a freshman.

ROUND 1: Oregon started strong but struggled on the back nine. Kathleen Scavo opened her round with back-to-back birdies but finished 5-over.
Fellow senior Petra Salko led the Ducks at 1-over after posting bogeys on the ninth and 16th holes and a birdie on the par-4 13th.
Amy Matsuoka was 2-over after the first round with three bogeys and a birdie, all in the back nine.

ROUND 2: Matsuoka was the lone Duck under par in the second round at the Rebel Beach, which was split over Monday and Tuesday due to darkness.
Despite a tough course with tough conditions, the junior was steady throughout the split round, recovering from a bogey on No. 3 with birdies on par-5 sixth and 18th holes.
Freshman Tze-Han Lin improved from a 6-over in round one to a 4-over in round 2.

ROUND 3: Matsuoka shot a 2-over 74 in her third round as other players near the top of the leaderboard struggled. Only one player at the event, UNLV's Elizabeth Prior, playing on her home course, finished under par with a 7-under 209. Colorado's Malak Bouraeda was second at even par while every other player was over par.
Lin improved from round to round once again, shooting an even par in her third round. She overcame a double bogey on the 11th hole with four back-nine birdies.
DEEP DIVE: There were 31 double bogeys or worse on the par-4, 361-yard 16th hole, the most of any in the tournament...Amy Matsuoka, Alexis Phadungmartvorakul and Tze-Han Lin each birdied No. 16 once over the weekend...The Ducks were fourth at the event with 34 total birdies...They were fifth with 162 pars.
