Scavo Wraps Up First Round at NCAA Championships

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Senior Kathleen Scavo tallied a nine-over 82 on Friday in her first round of the NCAA Championships at The Blessings Golf Club at the University of Arkansas.
Scavo qualified for nationals after finishing fourth last week at the NCAA Cle Elum (Wash.) Regional. This is the third nationals appearance in her four-year career.
On the tough par-73 course, where just four of the 132 competitors are under par after round one, Scavo is tied for 95th going into Saturday's second round.
The senior rallied with birdies on the par-3 No. 17 and the par-4 No. 18 to take some momentum into the clubhouse.
Scavo posted three birdies, three bogeys, three double bogeys and triple bogey on Friday. On No. 14, which was the second toughest hole of the day at a +0.67 average score, Scavo recorded a par. She was 5-over on the front nine and four-over on the back nine. Scavo will start at No. 10 tomorrow.
Scavo is in the first group off the tees on Saturday for round two at 8:10 AM CT.
