Scavo Takes Fourth, Qualifies for Nationals

CLE ELUM, Wash. - Senior Kathleen Scavo placed fourth and earned an individual bid to the national championships while the Ducks took ninth as a team at the 2019 NCAA regionals.
Scavo posted a 7-under (67-72-70) to lead the Ducks and earn an individual qualifying spot as one of the top three finishers not on an advancing team. The senior was 5-under on her first day, even par in her second round and shot a bogey-free 2-under in her third and final round. Her 67 on Monday was her best round of the season. Scavo will head to Fayetteville, Ark., for nationals, with the tournament starting on May 17.
Amy Matsuoka was also under par in her third round, shooting a 1-under 71 with two birdies and a bogey. She finished tied for 35th at 5-over for the tournament. Petra Salko finished 8-over for 51st, Tze-Han Lin was 55th at 9-over and Alexis Phadungmartvorakul was 25-over for 86th.
As a team, the Ducks were 15-over on the tournament, good for ninth. Oregon shot a 295 in the first round, 296 in the second and staged a rally on day three with a 288 but missed the cut by five strokes. UCF took sixth at 10-over. USC was first at 20-under while host Washington was second at 5-under. Northwestern, led by Brooke Riley's course record 65 in the third round, was third while Arkansas was fourth and San Jose State was fifth.
