Women's Golf in Second After First Day of WSU Cougar Cup

PULLMAN, Wash. - The Oregon women's golf team opened up its fall schedule in strong fashion, sitting in second after two of three rounds at the WSU Cougar Cup.
The No. 20 ranked Ducks bounced between first and third over the course of back-to-back rounds at Palouse Ridge.
At 12-under on the day, the Ducks are just one stroke back of Oregon State in first. Oregon followed up a 285 in its opening round with a 9-under 279, the lowest second round score of the tournament.
Individually, senior Amy Matsuoka is tied for sixth at 4-under. She was even par after her first round but shot a 4-under 68 in her second round with five birdies and a bogey. Sophomore Tze-Han Lin is just behind her, tied for ninth at 3-under. Starting on the seventh hole in her second round, Lin went eagle-birdie-birdie but ended at 1-under following a 2-under opening round.
Monday's rounds were the collegiate debuts of freshmen Briana Chacon, Sofie Kibsgaard Nielsen and Ching-Tzu Chen.
Kibsgaard Nielsen is tied for 12th at 2-under while Chen is tied for 15th at 1-under. Chacon, who is fresh off a win with team USA at the Junior Solheim Cup in Scotland, is tied for 22nd at 1-over.
