The Ducks Can't Hold On and Fall to CSUN, 4-3
02/15/20 | Women's Tennis
NORTHRIDGE, Calif. - Oregon dominated doubles to take the match lead early on, but couldn't hold on and ultimately fell to California State University Northridge (CSUN) on Saturday.
How it Happened:
The duo of Julia Eshet and Lillian Mould set the tone for doubles, finishing first with a 6-1 victory over CSUN's duo of Ekatarina Repina and Jacquie Tan. Eshet and Mould have won four matches together this spring. Uxia Martinez Moral and Myah Petchey secured the doubles point for Oregon with a 6-3 victory over CSUN's Emma Roenholt and Lisa-Marie Wurst. Martinez Moral and Petchey have also been victorious as a doubles duo four times this spring.
The slow start did not discourage CSUN who came back fighting in singles, earning the first two singles points to take the match lead.
The battle continued as Oregon's Myah Petchey and Julia Eshet took back the lead for the Ducks. Myah Petchey claimed the second point for the Ducks and the first Oregon point from a singles win with a 6-3, 6-2 victory over Emma Roenholt (CSUN). Julia Eshet finished next with a 6-4, 7-5 win over Ana Fraile Toboso (CSUN).
