TUCSON, Ariz. – Led by three players under par, the No. 15 ranked Oregon women's golf team shot 2 under as a team in the final round of the Arizona Wildcat Invitational on Tuesday to finish in a tie for second place overall at the Sewailo Golf Club.
The Ducks – who entered the day one stroke back of second place – carded their best round of the week and the second-lowest round of the day to notch their sixth top-five finish in seven tournaments so far in 2019-20, ending in a tie with New Mexico State at 4 over for the week. No. 10 Arizona won its home tournament at 18 under.
Freshman Sofie Kibsgaard Nielsen fired a 3-under 69 in the final round to lead the way, with both senior Amy Matsuoka and junior Alexis Phadungmartvorakul two strokes behind at 1 under. Nielsen and Matsuoka both finished the week at 2-under par to tie for sixth overall, giving each Duck their first top-10 finish of the season.
How it Happened: Nielsen got her day off to a phenomenal start, carding her second eagle of the year on the par-4 first hole before making birdie on the next two holes to get to 4 under right off the bat. The freshman was 3 under through the front nine and shot even-par on the back nine to record her first top-10 finish, and her seventh straight top-20 showing to open her collegiate career.

Matsuoka started the day with a bogey but responded with birdies on the next two holes. The senior was even on the front nine and made back-to-back birdies on the back nine to get to 2-below-par before ending her day with a bogey.
Phadungmartvorakul recorded an eagle of her own – her third of the year – early in the round, getting to 2 under through her first four holes. The junior made back-to-back birdies on holes 10 and 11 to get to 4 under before finishing the day at 1 under.
