Statement from Rob Mullens (March 14 - 1 p.m.)
The health and safety of our student-athletes, coaches, staff, fans and community will always be our highest priority, and we are doing all we can to ensure that safety. While we are obviously extremely disappointed that so many of our student-athletes will not have the opportunity to compete further this academic year, the actions being taken are the correct ones from a public health standpoint to help stop the spread of COVID-19.
The 2019-20 academic year has been a tremendous one for our Oregon student-athletes, who have achieved excellence in competition and in the classroom. More incredible moments were on the way for the Ducks in the coming weeks and months, and we are so thankful for the efforts of our student-athletes, coaches, staff and fans this year as well as for their patience and understanding during a difficult time. I have no doubt that next year, our programs will reach even greater heights.
We will continue to monitor this evolving situation with university officials, and we also will work diligently to navigate the numerous and unprecedented items that are a result of this situation.
