Two Squads Earn Recognition For Success In The Classroom

Oregon's men's tennis and men's cross country teams received NCAA Public Recognition Awards on Tuesday for having perfect APR scores.
The men's tennis and men's cross country programs from the UO athletics department on Tuesday received NCAA Public Recognition Awards for success in the classroom.
Public Recognition Awards are bestowed on teams in the top 10 percent of their sports academically, as measured by the NCAA's Academic Progress Rate. The most recent APR data is through the 2018-19 academic year; full reports for all sports department-wide will be released May 19.
The Ducks' men's tennis and men's cross country teams each scored a perfect 1,000 for the 2018-19 academic year, giving each a perfect 1,000 in the four-year "multiyear rate" calculated through 2018-19.
The Academic Progress Rate measures eligibility, graduation and retention each semester or academic term and provides a clear picture of the ongoing academic performance for each team in every sport.
Men's cross country received a Public Recognition Award for the first time in the 15-year history of the award.
Men's tennis was honored for the third time in four years, and for the fourth time overall — the second-most NCAA Public Recognition Awards received by an Oregon athletics program, behind the 11 for women's golf.
