Ducks Tied For Third Entering Final Round

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – The Oregon women's golf team is tied for third place with 18 holes remaining at the Sun Devil Winter Classic after carding a 14-over 302 on Tuesday in the second round at Talking Stick Golf Club.
A day after shooting a 3-under 285 to take a one-stroke lead into Tuesday, the Ducks closed the second round at 11-over for the tournament and tied for third overall with UCLA. USC leads the field of 10 Pac-12 teams at 1-under-par, with Arizona State one stroke behind in second place.
Sophomore Ching-Tzu Chen led Oregon on Tuesday with a 2-over 74, with three more Ducks shooting 4 over. Senior Alexis Phadungmartvorakul remains the top Duck overall at 1-over-par for the tournament.
How it Happened: Chen was 1 under through her first seven holes before four bogeys put her at 3 over going into No. 14. The Taiwan native finished strong with two birdies across her final five holes to card her second straight 74 in Scottsdale, putting her in a tie for 20th individually.
After firing a 3-under 69 on Monday to grab a share of the individual lead, Phadungmartvorakul was 1 over on the front nine on Tuesday before going 3 over on the back nine to finish with a 76. The senior enters Wednesday's final round in a tie for 11th overall, five shots off the lead.
Sophomores Briana Chacon and Sofie Kibsgaard Nielsen each matched Phadungmartvorakul with a 4-over 76 to round out the counting scores for the Ducks. Nielsen is 3 over for the tournament and tied for 18th overall after carding a 1-under 71 on Monday. All five Ducks are in the top 30 of the 54-player field going into the final round.
