Lu Earns Second Pac-12 Golfer Of The Month Honor
05/03/22 | Women's Golf
EUGENE, Ore. – Sophomore Hsin-Yu (Cynthia) Lu has been selected as the Pac-12 Women's Golfer of the Month for April, the league office announced on Tuesday.
Lu claimed her second conference Golfer of the Month honor of the season after becoming the second Duck ever to win the individual Pac-12 title on April 20th at Eugene Country Club. The sophomore shot 6-under par – fueled by a 6-under 66 in the second round – to claim individual medalist honors and lead No. 2 Oregon to the first team Pac-12 championship in program history.
Lu's 6-under 66 was one stroke shy of matching the Pac-12 Championships single-round scoring record.
Currently No. 11 in the individual Golfstat national rankings, Lu earned her second straight all-Pac-12 first-team honor following her win at the Pac-12 Championships. She is the first player in program history to receive first-team all-conference awards in back-to-back seasons.
On the season, Lu leads the Ducks with a stellar 72.23 scoring average through 10 tournaments (30 rounds). She has shot par-or-better in 14 of 18 rounds this spring and 19 of 30 rounds on the season, including a team-best five rounds in the 60s.
Lu was also named the Pac-12 Golfer of the Month for September after setting the program's individual 54-hole record at 17-under par to win the Mason Rudolph Championship.
Lu and the Ducks will compete at the NCAA Albuquerque Regional on May 9-11 as the top seed in the 12-team field, with the top four finishing teams advancing to the NCAA Championships on May 20-25 at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Ariz.
