
Four Ducks to Participate in ITA Northwest Regionals

SEATTLE – Oregon's Matt Burton, Ray Lo, Avi Shugar and Zian Vanderstappen will take part in the ITA Northwest Regionals this weekend in Seattle.
Hosted by the University of Washington's Nordstrom Tennis Center, the tournament serves as a qualifier into the ITA Super Regionals, which take place on the Stanford University campus October 20-23. Those winners will advance to the ITA Fall Championships.
Burton and Vanderstappen will see their first action as members of the Ducks team, while Lo and Shugar look to make improvements from last season. Draws and schedules should be available on Friday on gohuskies.com and will be shared here once available.
Day 1: Shugar recorded the first win of the tournament for the Ducks in the round of 64, defeating Simon Kuszynski of Portland State 6-3 and 3-2. Ray Lo, Matt Burton and Zian Vanderstappen advanced to the round of 16. Lo earned a 6-2, 6-2 win over Cade Fernando from University of Portland. Burton had a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Portland State's Andrin Zuellig. Vanderstapprn defeated Julian Worn of Seattle 3-6, 6-0, and 6-2.
Day 2: Ray Lo secured another 6-2, 3-6, 6-3 singles win against Fabian Gusic while Matt Burton defeated Brett Pearson 6-3, 6-3 to advance to the quarterfinals. Shugar and Lo continue in doubles with an 8-6 victory over Oscar Brown and Nikolas Tvedt from the University of Portland.
Day 3: Securing a spot to the super regionals, Lo earned a 7-5, 6-4 victory over Washington's Jim Hendrikx in the quarterfinals.
