Park Paces Ducks On Day One In South Carolina

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. — Junior Ashleigh Park led the Oregon women's golf team with a 1-under 70 on Monday in the opening round of the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate at Long Cove Club.
The No. 3 Ducks sit in a tie for seventh place after 18 holes at 11 over, competing against a loaded field that features five more top-10 teams and 11 other top-25 programs. Host and No. 4 South Carolina is tied for the team lead after round one with No. 6 LSU at 1-under par.
How it Happened: Park posted her team-leading ninth round of par-or-better this season, and is tied for sixth on the individual leaderboard at 1 under. Auburn's Megan Schofill is the 18-hole leader at 4-under par.
Park started hot with back-to-back birdies on holes 2-3, before making the turn at even par. She opened the back nine with a birdie at No. 10, and got back to 2-under par with an eagle on the par-5 15th after holing out from the fairway. A pair of bogeys followed, but Park bounced back again with her fourth birdie on No. 18 to finish at 1 under.
Ching-Tzu Chen came in with a 3-over 74, and Briana Chacon followed with a 4-over 75 while making a team-high 15 pars. Hsin-Yu (Cynthia) Lu rounded out Oregon's counting scores with a 5-over 76.
