EUGENE, ORE. — The Associated Students of the University of Oregon are excited to announce Amine´ as the headlining act at the Downpour concert at the Matthew Knight Arena on May 13th. The concert will also feature performances by local music acts Mommy, Common Koi, and DJ Dom Jacobs.
Amine´, the Grammy-nominated rapper, singer, and songwriter, hails from Portland and is a rising star in the hip-hop world. His debut single, "Caroline," went triple platinum in the United States and earned him a spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. His 2017 album, "Good for You," features collaborations with artists such as Nelly, Offset, and Ty Dolla Sign. Amine´ is known for his unique blend of hip-hop, funk, and pop, as well as his high-energy live performances.
ASUO President Luda Isakharov, who represents the Associated Students of the University of Oregon, spoke about the upcoming Downpour concert, which will be the first ASUO concert in over a decade. Isakharov expressed enthusiasm for the event, saying, "I am so excited and thrilled for the student body to come together and have one of the best nights of the year." She also acknowledged the impact of the pandemic on college experiences, stating, "for those of us who lost countless college memories during COVID, this means a lot."
In addition to Amine´, the Downpour concert will feature performances by Eugene's very own musical acts: Mommy, Common Koi, and DJ Dom Jacobs. Mommy is a beloved local band that got its start in the Eugene mosh circuit and has been wowing audiences with its original songs. Their debut single, "Heatwave," is already making waves on streaming platforms. Meanwhile, Common Koi, an indie rock group also hailing from Eugene, has played several events, including Summer's End and Jugg Fest. Fans can already enjoy their latest EP, "POND," on all streaming services, with the promise of a full album release later this year. And last but not least,
DJ Dom Jacobs, a popular local DJ, has kept Eugene's dance floors packed with his blend of electronic, hip-hop, and R&B beats.
Tickets for the Downpour concert will be on sale March 12th at 11:00 AM for students on the Go Ducks app and March 24th at 5:00 PM for the public on ticketmaster.com and at the Matthew Knight Arena box office.
