The Ducks will be in the State of Oregon for their next two tournaments, starting with the Bandon Dunes Championship Sunday through Tuesday on the Bandon Dunes course at Bandon, Ore.
OFF THE TEE
• Ranked 28th nationally, Owen Avrit has four top-eight finishes in five tournaments this season. He posted his second career win - his first as a Duck - with a T1 at the Cal Poly Invitational to close out the fall. For his efforts, he was named Pac-12 Golfer of the Month for November. He opened the spring season with a tie for fifth at the Southwestern Invitational.
• The Ducks are the defending champions of the Bandon Dunes Championship. They shot an 11-under 863 to defeat San Jose State by two strokes last season. Four Ducks finished in the top 10: Greyson Leach and Gregory Solhaug tied for fourth at 1-under, Owen Avrit tied for sixth at even par and Nate Stember was eighth at 1-over.
• Oregon's last event, the Amer Ari Intercollegiate on the Big Island (Feb. 9-11), was canceled due to high winds. The Ducks haven't played since the Southwestern Invitational (Jan. 31-Feb. 1).
• The Ducks opened the spring by tying for fourth at the Southwestern Invitational. Owen Avrit led the squad with a fifth-place finish, while Greg Solhaug posted his third-straight top-20 finish (T19).
• Oregon tied for ninth at the Ben Hogan Invitational (Oct. 3-4) , a tournament that featured seven of the nation's top 10 teams. Greg Solhaug's T15 led the Ducks.
• Oregon had a fourth-place finish at the Sept. 19-20 Husky Invitational. Oven Avrit led the team with his second-straight top-eight finish of the season.
The Ducks also had a strong performance from Nate Stember, who tied for 11th. Freshman Aiden Krafft also recorded a top-20 finish for the Ducks.
• The Ducks had some terrific individual performances in the season-opening Maui Jim Intercollegiate. Greyson Leach tied for fifth at 12-under 198. His score included a career-low 65 in the second round. Owen Avrit tied for eighth at 11-under 199. He opened the tournament with a career-best 63 that was one shot off the Ducks' school record.
