Women's Golf Wraps Regular Season

NAPA, Calif. — The Oregon women's golf team closed out its 2022-23 regular season in a tie for sixth place at the Silverado Showdown on Wednesday at Silverado Resort and Spa.
The No. 8 Ducks shot a 16-over 304 in the final round to finish the week at 32 over, tied with No. 9 Arizona State for sixth. No. 16 Northwestern won the team title at 9-over par.
Oregon will now prepare for postseason play, which begins on April 17-19 with the Pac-12 Championships at Papago Golf Course in Phoenix, Ariz.
How it Happened: Scores were up across the board on Wednesday, with no team finishing better than 4-over par. Play began at 9 a.m. with a shotgun start, and the Ducks struggled to find birdies throughout the round.
Oregon's top round on the day didn't count towards the team score, as junior Minori Nagano posted a 2-over 74 while competing as an individual. Ching-Tzu Chen was the top counting score with a 3-over 75, which was matched by two more Ducks competing as individuals in Baylee Hammericksen and Brittany Shin.
Ashleigh Park and Briana Chacon each recorded a 4-over 76, and Hsin-Yu (Cynthia) Lu rounded out the counting scores with a 5-over 77.
Lu finished as the top Duck on the leaderboard in a tie for 13th at 6-over par, followed by Nagano and freshman Anika Varma in a tie for 15th at 7 over. It is the second straight top-15 showing for Varma, whose week was headlined by a career-best 3-under 69 in Tuesday's second round.
