EUGENE, Ore. — Oregon women's golf head coach Derek Radley and assistant coach Monica Vaughn announced on Tuesday that Vaughn will be transitioning to a new role as volunteer assistant coach with the Ducks. Radley has begun a national search for a new full-time assistant coach.
"I am incredibly thankful and appreciative of Monica for everything she has done for our program," Radley said. "She's been with me from the start and has done a tremendous job as a coach, mentor and friend for our student-athletes. Her dedication to this team has never wavered, and I will always be grateful for everything she has done to help take this program to new heights. We are going to miss having Coach Mo around every day, but are thrilled that she will still be involved with our program in a volunteer capacity."
"We are going to find a terrific assistant coach to help us continue to build a championship culture. The future of Oregon women's golf is incredibly bright and I can't wait to see what's next for the Ducks."
Vaughn joined Radley as his assistant coach shortly after he was named Oregon's head coach in June 2018. Together, Radley and Vaughn led Oregon to seven tournament wins from the spring of 2021 to the spring of 2023, including the program's first-ever Pac-12 Championship and a NCAA runner-up finish in 2022. The pair coached four players to six all-America selections, tripling the total number of all-America honors the program had prior to their arrival. In five seasons under Radley and Vaughn, Oregon has posted a stellar competitive record of 465-161-9.
"I am forever grateful to Derek and Sara Radley, the amazing young women I've coached, and the people at the Oregon athletic department for giving me some of my favorite memories the past five years," Vaughn said. "It has been an honor and a privilege to be a Duck, and I look forward to following the future success of the program and having the opportunity to stay on as the volunteer assistant coach. I am so excited to begin the next chapter of my life as a wife, first time mother and as Director of Development and Donor Engagement for the Oregon Golf Association. The future is incredibly bright for Oregon women's golf and I am one proud MoMama!"
