
Doubles Highlights Day 2 of Duck Invitational

EUGENE, Ore. – On the second day of the Duck Invitational, the Oregon women's tennis team swept three doubles matches while earning three singles wins Saturday at the Student Tennis Center.
Facing off against Boise State in doubles action to begin the day, the Ducks claimed all three matches with the Broncos. First it was Tilde Jagare and Olivia Symons with a 6-0 win over Lorelyz Maruffo and Ryan Kershner. Then Candela Aparisi and Marjorie Souza handled Bhakti Shah and Ariadna Briones Ginesta, 6-2, and finally Julia Visaya and Karin Young outlasted Puala Schaeffer and Masa Viriant, 6-4.
Jagare and Symons improved their fall doubles record to 5-2 when paired together. The Duck Invitational marks the first matches for UO's other two tandems, which both improved to 2-0 on the weekend.
The Ducks won two of six singles matches overall, playing five against Washington State and one against Idaho, picking up straight-set wins from Souza amd Symons. Souza defeated Idaho's Ida Johansson while Symons got past Martina Puvill.
Souza and Symons both improved to 2-0 in singles for the weekend, while Symons now leads the team with five singles victories this fall (5-2).
The three-day Duck Invitational concludes Sunday at 9:30 a.m. at the Student Tennis Center. Admission is free and open to all fans.
