
Oregon Takes Down No. 19 San Jose State

LOS ANGELES — The No. 7 ranked Oregon women's golf team bounced back from a tough loss on Saturday with a 3-2 win over No. 19 San Jose State on Sunday at the Therese Hession Regional Challenge.

After dropping a tight 3-2 contest to No. 6 South Carolina to close the first day of competition, the Ducks came from behind to claim their second top-25 win of the weekend. Oregon swept No. 25 Mississippi State on Saturday to kick off its spring season.

The Ducks are scheduled to face No. 5 USC on Monday beginning at 11 a.m. PT, weather permitting. Â

How it Happened: Freshman Ting-Hsuan (Tiffany) Huang continued to impress in her first spring tournament as a Duck, improving to 3-0 on the weekend with a 2 up victory over Darae Chung. Huang was tied through 16 holes before winning two of her final three to claim the victory.

Fellow freshman Kiara Romero also put a point on the board with a 2 up win, defeating Moa Andersson. Romero won her second hold of the day and never trailed, leading by as many as three holes in the middle of the round.

Senior Minori Nagano claimed a 2 up win of her own over Lucia Lopez Ortega to seal the match for the Ducks. A tight match throughout, neither player led by more than a hole until Nagano won the 18th to secure the 2 up victory.
