Ducks Drop Round-Robin Matches at Alki

SEATTLE, Wash. – The Oregon beach volleyball team lost its three duals during round-robin play Friday at the Alki Beach Invitational in Seattle. The Ducks will now face No. 11 Washington Saturday at 10 a.m. in the first round of bracket play.

The UO pair of Natasha George and Skylar Kelly, playing together for the first time, scored a point in the Ducks' 4-1 loss to No. 15 Georgia State. In that same dual, Oregon had an eye on a second tally from the No. 1 spot with Daley McClellan and Alina Valenti forcing a third set against the Panthers' team of Angel and Bella Ferary. However, the GSU twins pulled through with a 15-10 result in the decisive frame.

McClellan and Valenti played three sets in each of the Ducks' three duals Friday.

Facing Boise State for a third time in the past two weeks, Oregon (4-21) found itself in the third set on three of the five courts, but were unable to close the deal at any of the spots.

Georgia State and Boise State will face one another in the other semifinal Saturday morning.
