Vinijchaitham In Fourth After 36 Holes

WILMETTE, Ill. — Oregon women's golf freshman Suvichaya Vinijchaitham is in fourth place overall after shooting 2-under par across 36 holes on Monday to kick off the Windy City Collegiate Classic at Westmoreland Country Club.
The No. 8 Ducks currently sit in seventh place in the 15-team field at 15 over, finishing round one with an 11-over 299 before improving by seven strokes with a 4-over 292 in round two.
Some teams will need to finish round two on Tuesday morning as play was suspended due to darkness, before moving into the final round of 18 holes. Arizona State currently leads the field at 3-over par.
How it Happened: Vinijchaitham was Oregon's top performer in both rounds on Monday, firing an even-par 72 in round one before improving upon that with a 2-under 70 across the next 18 holes. The freshman has now shot par-or-better in four of her first five collegiate rounds, and she is a combined 7-under par across her last four rounds.
Vinijchaitham is one of six players in the field under par entering Tuesday. USC's Jasmine Koo leads the field at 9-under par.
Sophomore Kiara Romero bounced back from a 5-over 77 in the opening round with a 1-under 71 in round two, and she is currently in 21st overall at 4-over par.
Sophomore Ting-Hsuan Huang posted a 1-over 73 in her first round of the season, followed by a 4-over 76 to close the day. Sophomore Karen Tsuru rounded out the counting scores with a 5-over 77 and a 3-over 75.
Junior Anika Varma - competing as an individual - made her season debut on Monday and finished with a 3-over 75 and a 2-over 74.
