Ducks Make Third East Lake Cup Trip In Four Years
10/25/25 | Women's Golf
ATLANTA, Ga. - The Oregon women's golf team will compete on the national stage at the prestigious East Lake Cup for the third time in the last four years beginning on Monday at East Lake Golf Club.
The No. 5 Ducks earned the invitation back to the East Lake Cup by advancing to the national semifinals at the NCAA Championships last spring. The final four teams at each year's NCAA Championships earn bids into the field in Atlanta.
Oregon reached the semifinals for the second year in a row and third time in a four-year span last spring. The Ducks will be joined in Atlanta this week by 2025 national champion Northwestern and fellow semifinalist USC, with Florida State rounding out the field as a replacement for Stanford from last year's final four.
The tournament will begin with 18 holes of stroke play to determine seeding for match play. The first- and fourth-place teams will square off in match play on Tuesday, as well as the second- and third-place teams, with the two winners advancing to the championship match on Wednesday and the other two teams playing in a consolation match. Monday's stroke-play round will also determine an individual champion.
Golf Channel will have live coverage of the event all three days for three hours beginning at 12 p.m. PT.
Oregon is coming off a strong showing at the Stanford Intercollegiate where it placed second in a 19-team field. The Ducks are in their eighth season under head coach Derek Radley and own a tremendous 765-255-11 competitive record with 11 tournament victories and 55 top-five finishes.

Romero, Ducks Finish Second At Stanford Intercollegiate
Star junior Kiara Romero led the way earlier this month as the Ducks secured a second-place finish in a 19-team field at the Stanford Intercollegiate. Romero earned her second runner-up finish and third top-three showing in three tournaments this fall, tying for second overall at 9-under par on the strength of a stellar 6-under 65 in the final round. Oregon shot 14-under par, including 7 under in each of the first two rounds, to place second and improve its competitive record this season to 30-5-0. Romero claimed her sixth career runner-up finish and extended her streak of par-or-better performances to eight straight rounds since opening the fall with a 3-over 75. The two-time, first-team all-American has also shot under 70 five times in that stretch and owns a measly 68.89 scoring average to lead the team. Oregon finished with three players in the individual top 20 as Tong An and Sophie Han each tied for 20th at 1 under. An opened the week with back-to-back 2-under 69s and Han shined in round two with a 3-under 68.
Ducks Gain Valuable Experience At Stephens Cup
Oregon got its first taste of what postseason play will be like in September at the Jackson T. Stephens Cup, competing in an elite six-team field in stroke play before a round of match play. The Ducks finished third in the six-team field behind the fifth career runner-up finish by Kiara Romero, who was joined in the top 10 by Suvichaya Vinijchaitham (8th). Romero shot par-or-better in all three rounds to shoot 4 under, including a 3-under 67 in the opening round. Oregon's third-place finish pitted the Ducks against Texas in match play, a rematch of last spring's NCAA quarterfinal matchup. The Longhorns pulled out a 3-2 victory, but Oregon got a 2&1 win from sophomore Tong An and a dominant 5&4 victory by freshman Sophie Han in her first match-play experience as a Duck.
Romero, Han Power Ducks To Second-Place Finish In Season Opener
The Ducks kicked off their 2025-26 season at the ANNIKA Intercollegiate in Minnesota, going up against a 12-team field that featured four top-five teams and seven top-12 programs. Oregon got off to a bit of a slow start in the opening round before improving by seven strokes in round two, but still sat in sixth place with 18 holes to go. As they have in recent years, the Ducks caught fire in the final round, firing a 16-under 272 to fly up the leaderboard and finish as the runner-up at the ANNIKA Intercollegiate for the third year in a row. Junior Kiara Romero and freshman Sophie Han powered the Ducks' surge, each shooting 6-under 66 to help Oregon fire the third-lowest team round in program history and third-lowest in the 11-year history of the ANNIKA Intercollegiate. Sophomores Tong An and Suvichaya Vinijchaitham each added a 2-under 70 as Oregon finished with by far the lowest team round of the week. Romero's 66 followed a 3-under 69 in the second round as the reigning Big Ten Golfer of the Year earned a third-place finish (-5) at the tournament where she won in her collegiate debut two years ago. An was solid all week while tying for eighth overall at 2 under, Vinijchaitham tied for 15th overall at even par and Han was the biggest riser of the final round with a 20-spot climb to tie for 28th overall.
On Top of the World
Oregon 's lineup is led by the top-ranked amateur women's golfer in the world in junior Kiara Romero. Already one of the most accomplished players in program history, Romero ascended to the top spot in the World Amateur Golf Rankings and received the prestigious McCormack Medal following a sensational sophomore season. Romero became the first two-time, first-team all-American in program history while also being named the 2025 Big Ten Women's Golfer of the Year. She won the individual Big Ten title while leading the Ducks to the team championship, and followed that up with a dominant individual win at the NCAA Gold Canyon Regional that featured the lowest individual round in program history with a 10-under 62. At the NCAA Championships, Romero tied for seventh overall with a 5-under 283 to power Oregon back into match play, breaking her own program record for the lowest individual score in a 72-hole tournament. On the season, Romero carded two wins, four runner-up finishes, nine top-10 finishes and 11 top-20 showings in 11 tournaments while shooting par-or-better in 26 of 32 rounds with 16 sub-70 performances. During the spring, Romero combined to shoot an incredible 57-under par in seven tournaments while finishing par-or-better in 20 of 22 rounds.
