Krafft Leads Lineup at Notah Begay III

SANTA ANA PUEBLO, N.M. – The Oregon men's golf team wrapped up day one of two at the Notah Begay III Match Play on Tuesday at the Twin Warriors Golf Club.
The Ducks lost to New Mexico State 2-3 in the morning match, and came up 2-3 again to No. 22 ranked New Mexico in the second round.
New Mexico native Aiden Krafft had a strong start to his homecoming trip, taking home a pair wins between the two rounds.
Jay Gould-Healy won his first match of the day, while Oscar Lent and Hugh Adams each lost their first matches, but came to tie in their second rounds.
How It Happened
Krafft won the first hole of the day against New Mexico State's Javier Delgadillo, and was 3 up after four holes. Delgadillo won just two holes, shooting pars on No. 2 and No. 6. Krafft answered with a par and a birdie on the next holes, and finished the match 4&3.
Gould-Healy added the second point of the tournament for the Ducks with a 3&2 win over Ethan Klose. Starting on the 18th hole, Gould-Healy had a pair of birdies to win the two. Klose answered with five wins between hole No. 2 and No. 8, but the Oregon senior responded with wins on five straight holes to finish the match 3-up.
Lent stayed close behind New Mexico State's Anthony Lara, fighting through 17 holes before falling 2&1. Adams also finished 2&1 behind Max Chan, after staying tied through the first four holes.
Krafft carried his momentum through the second round, working his way to 4 up in the first eight holes. New Mexico's Johnnie Clark answered with four wins, reducing Oregon's lead to 1-up with two to play. Krafft won hole No. 17 to seal his second win 2&1.
Mesa Falleur took hole No. 1 from Lent, in round two, but the Oregon freshman held him within one through hole No. 9. Falleur went 2 up to open the back nine, but Lent won the 15th and 18th to end the match square.
Adams ended tied up in his match with New Mexico's Emil Albers, with each golfer taking three holes. Adams had four birdies in round two. Casper Nerpin lost both of his matches, but fought Wyatt Provence to a 2&1 finish in the second round.
