Three-peat! Simmons Named Midfielder of the Week Once Again
02/25/25 | Women's Lacrosse
EUGENE, Ore. – Three weeks, three awards. Anna Simmons has been named the Big Ten Conference Midfielder of the Week and remains the only player in the conference so far this season to earn the honor, the league office announced Tuesday.
Simmons put together her most complete game of the season last week in Oregon's 14-3 win over Central Michigan. The junior scored three goals while setting career highs with five caused turnovers and seven ground balls. She added a pair of draw controls as the Ducks improved to 4-0 to start the season for the second year in a row and just the second time in program history.
The North Bend, Wash., native's effort on the defensive end was instrumental in UO holding Central Michigan to just three goals, which was just the third time since 2018 that Oregon has held an opponent to three or less scores.
Simmons enters the week with 20 goals scored in four games, the fourth most nationally and the third-highest tally in the Big Ten, while her 5.0 goals per game average ranks second in the country. Her explosive start to the season is the highest-scoring four-game stretch in program history.
She has scored at least a hat track in all four games this year, doing so three times in just the first half alone, and has scored as many or more goals than 17 Division I teams.
Simmons and Oregon hit the road for the first time this season this week, traveling down to California to face the Golden Bears on Thursday, Feb. 27, at 3 p.m.
