04/09/25 | Women's Golf
NAPA, Calif. - The No. 3 ranked Oregon women's golf team put together its best round of the week to close out the regular season on Wednesday, firing a 2-under 286 to move up two spots and place fifth at the 2025 Chevron Silverado Showdown.
With their final-round surge, the Ducks have finished in the top five in all nine regular-season tournaments in 2024-25. Since head coach Derek Radley took over ahead of the 2018-19 season, he has led Oregon to top-five showings in 49 of 66 tournaments.
Oregon got par-or-better performances from five of its six players on Wednesday, led by a 2-under 70 from freshman Suvichaya Vinijchaitham. Senior Sonja Tang, junior Anika Varma and freshman Tong An all carded an even-par 72 to complete the counting scores, and sophomore Darae Chung fired a 1-under 71 while competing as an individual.
"I'm really proud of our team for coming out here and finishing strong today," Radley said. "We had some new faces in the lineup this week and I thought they handled themselves well and did a good job of making some adjustments going into today's round. This was a really strong regular season for our program and I'm excited to see what we can do as we get ready for the Big Ten Championships."
How it Happened: The Ducks were one of just three teams to shoot under par in the final round, joining first-place Northwestern and second-place USC. Oregon's six total players in action combined to shoot 1-under par with 16 birdies on Wednesday, and no Duck made worse than a bogey on a hole.
Vinijchaitham enjoyed a near-flawless day on the course, making just one bogey while carding three birdies and 14 pars. She was 2 under through 12 holes before recording her lone bogey, but bounced back with four pars and a birdie across her final five holes.
Vinijchaitham finished as the top Duck on the leaderboard in a tie for 11th at even par for the week, earning her eighth top-20 showing of the season. Her 2-under 70 was her 13th par-or-better round of the season, and her 43 total pars for the tournament were the second-most in the field.
An gave Oregon two players in the individual top 20, tying for 19th at 2-over par for her eighth par-or-better round of the season. She made a team-high four birdies on the day, all coming on the back nine.
Tang put together her first par-or-better performance as a Duck, fueled by two birdies in her first four holes. She was 2 under through 13 holes before making two bogeys in a three-hole stretch to get back to even, but she finished with a pair of pars to come in with a 72.
Varma's 72 was her first par-or-better round of the season and 11th of her career. She made birdie on her third hole of the day and stayed at 1 under through 13 holes before carding a bogey, but she closed with four straight pars to match Tang at even par.
Competing as an individual, Chung shot under par for the first time as a Duck while making two birdies and just one bogey. She was 2 under through 17 holes before making her lone bogey of the day to finish with a 1-under 71.
