UO defeats Portland 6-1 on Saturday.
EUGENE, Ore. – The Oregon women's tennis team remained undefeated at home this spring, cruising to a 6-1 victory over in-state rival Portland on Saturday at the UO Student Tennis Center.
The Ducks (5-1) moved to 4-0 at the Student Tennis Center this spring, winning on five singles courts after clinching the doubles point to begin the day.
Playing in the top doubles spot in all six dual matches, Tilde Jagare and Olivia Symons eased their way to a 6-1 win before UO's freshman duo of Hadley Appling and Virginia Crocker completed their 6-3 win on court three to put the Ducks in front 1-0 headed to singles. Appling and Crocker remain unbeaten this spring when paired together, now sitting at 3-0.

Oregon would win the first five of six singles matches to take a 6-0 lead and gather the necessary four team points for victory. Four of the five singles wins came in straight sets, with Jagare overcoming a 2-6 first-set loss to win the next two sets, 6-4, 6-1 at the top position in Oregon's singles lineup.
Sophomores Patsy Daughters and Bridget Mihulka extended the Ducks lead to 3-0 with wins on courts four and six, respectively. Mihulka picked up her fifth straight win to remain undefeated in the spring at the sixth position in the lineup. Daughters collected her third dual win of the season at No. 4.
Crocker, playing at No. 3, won in straight sets 7-5, 6-1, improving her singles mark to 4-1 in her first collegiate dual campaign. Fellow freshman Hinata Furutani battled to a 6-3, 7-6 (3) win on court five to move to 3-0.
Saturday's match marked the 40th all-time meeting between the Ducks and Pilots, and seventh straight season the teams have played, with UO leading the series 39-1.
The Ducks are back at the Student Tennis Center next Saturday for a doubleheader with UC Riverside (10 a.m.) and Seattle U (5 p.m.).
