Ducks Fall in MPSF Opener

Oregon will face No. 13 LSU in an elimination match Thursday at 9 a.m.
HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. – The Oregon beach volleyball team lost to 20th-ranked Washington in the opening match of the MPSF Championship Wednesday in Huntington Beach, Calif. The Ducks will next face No. 13 and tournament 7-seed LSU in an elimination match Thursday morning on B1G+.

Washington took an early 2-0 lead but Oregon (17-17) got on the board with a win at No. 1 pairs from Gwen Fife and AJ Slojkowski. The duo beat Emma Hohenauer and Katarina Pantovic in straight sets to give the Ducks' their lone point of the match. It was Fife and Slojkowski's 12th victory of the season and third at the top of the lineup.

The Huskies went on to close out the dual at No. 2 pairs. The match at No. 5 pairs featuring the Ducks' Landree Coats and Natasha George was left unfinished when the dual was clinched.

The win for Fife was the 17th of her UO career, moving her into the top 20 of the program's all-time list.
