The Ducks 19th After First Two Rounds - University of Oregon Athletics

TEMPE, Ariz. - The Oregon men's golf team is 19th after the first two rounds of the ASU Thunderbird Invititional. The Ducks shot 286 in the first round and 299 in the second, for a combined score of 585 after two rounds of play at the Karsten Golf Course, a par 72, 7,037-yard layout.

Oregon senior John Ellis leads the Ducks with a combined score of 143 after two rounds, currently in a tie for 39th place. Freshman Gregg LaVoie shoots a career low 69 in round one of play, tied at 48th with a total of 144. Freshman Kyle Johnson tied at 58th with a total of 145.

Host team, Arizona state is at the top with a team score of 551. Pepperdine is six strokes behind at 557. Individually, David Schultz, from TCU, shot 10 strokes under par (68-66-134) to lead by only one stroke over Greg Machtaler of BYU who carded a 135 for the day.

The tournament concludes with the final round on Saturday morning.
